Ukrainian President Zelenskyy urged Russia to engage in serious and honest talks. According to information from Kiev, ten escape corridors have been set up for today. Current news at a glance.
“I want everyone to hear me, especially in Moscow. Time to meet, time to talk,” Zelenskyi said in a video message in the morning. The territorial integrity of Ukraine must be restored. Otherwise, Russia will suffer losses that will take generations to absorb. Ukraine has always shown its readiness to engage in honest peace and security talks without delay. Negotiations are currently underway between Ukraine and Russia on a ceasefire, but so far they have not led to any results.
Kiev: ten escape corridors set up for today
According to the Kiev management, ten escape corridors were set up today for the harassed civilian population. One leads from the city of Mariupol, which has been particularly hard-fought for days, in the south to the city of Zaporizhia, Deputy Prime Minister Irina Wereshchuk said. Four corridors led from the embattled Luhansk region in the east of the country to the city of Bakhmut. Other escape routes have been set up from villages and cities around the capital, Kiev. According to estimates by the United Nations refugee agency UNHCR some 13 million people in Ukraine are in need of humanitarian aid.
Chernobayevka Airport near Cherson in southern Ukraine continues to be the focus of fierce fighting. The Ukrainian Armed Forces claim to have inflicted heavy casualties on the Russian army there. This could not be independently verified, nor could reports from Moscow be provided on the use of a hypersonic missile. The Russian air force claims to have destroyed an underground ammunition depot of the Ukrainian aviation in Delyatyn, in southwestern Ukraine, with the “Kinzhal” air-to-surface ballistic missile. It was the first use of such a missile in combat, according to the Russian side.
