US politicians inquired about the concept of ISR and the wishes of the studio

Neuss / Düsseldorf (pts109 / 31.03.2022 / 17: 40) – A delegation of the heads of the electoral offices of the US House of Representatives visited the ISR International School on the Rhine Neuss and Düsseldorf as part of a “Senior Staff Study Trip” through North Rhine-Westphalia. The visit took place as part of the ISR partnership with AmerikaHaus NRW eV. The nine-member delegation was made up of so-called “district directors” from both major parties (Democrats and Republicans), who run the offices of their parliamentarians in their respective regions of origin.

Experts inquired in detail about the educational concept of the ISR and talked to pupils in grades 9-11 about their academic career, academic challenges, desired studies and even private plans for the future. “It was a very informative exchange for all students. Not just for those who are thinking of studying in the United States,” emphasizes Emil Cete, assistant director of ISR Neuss: “Such personal encounters cannot be replaced. In the last two Over the years of the Corona, many events have been organized digitally. But in a personal exchange it is simply even more enriching and personal. We are even more delighted that Dr. Becker from AmerikaHaus NRW eV brought us this special event to the ISR. “

Likewise, Dr. Benjamin Becker, Director of AmerikaHaus NRW eV: “After two difficult years of the ongoing pandemic, we at AmerikaHaus NRW eV are very pleased that visits from the United States are possible again. Despite all the enthusiasm for technologies of digital communication, it is human encounters that enable mutual understanding. And where could it take place better than in an international school like the Neuss ISR – with representatives of the generation who will shape the transatlantic relations of tomorrow? “

The US delegation was surprised by the number of students interested in studying in the United States. Traditionally, after the International Baccalaureate, a course of study in the USA is one of the most coveted training courses for ISR graduates, even in the last two years Corona. Famous US universities offered places to study in 2020 and 2021, for example at Princeton University (state of New Jersey), University of Southern California, University of Notre Dame (state of Indiana), University of Miami, Boston University and Michigan State University and Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Delegates from US election offices not only discussed their study preferences with the students, but above all about the importance of education, cosmopolitanism, and the importance of transparent communication and personal exchange in promoting transatlantic relations. “You are the future of your respective home countries, so we encourage you to continue thinking globally and critically,” concluded the US guests with their advice to high school students.

The delegates spent a lot of time asking questions from the young people and eventually exchanged their contact details with them. “We were very pleased that the guests today were so open to the students and even offered them an internship in the US. This underlines the special importance of events of this type and their added value for both parties,” he sums up. Peter Soliman, ISR executive partner.
