Bolzano – On the proposal of the regional councilor Giorgio Leonardi, the regional council approved the decision to make 40 scholarships available for high school students in Trentino-Alto Adige to attend the school year 2022/2023 in a member state of the ‘European Union.

“Following the strong demand from parents and students’ schools – explained Leonardi – the Region has decided to introduce a new model for the assignment of scholarships, according to which each scholarship holder is paid a fee that fully covers the expenses of the stay abroad or partially covered, where the region does not otherwise offer support and organization.

The initiative is aimed at high school students who are citizens of a member state of the European Union and have been in the region or in the neighboring municipalities of Pedemonte, Colle Santa Lucia, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Livinallongo del Col di Lana, Magasa and Valvestino have been resident for at least a year.

This scholarship funds the fourth year of high school abroad, but on the condition that students return to Italy to attend the fifth year of high school and pass the baccalaureate. Upper secondary school students in the third year of high school can submit the relevant applications from March 197 to April 197 2022, as long as they have not received a negative grade in the first certificate / evaluation sheet for the period until February 28, 2022 and n. negative grade in their final certificate received or have no learning deficit. Each scholarship amounts from a minimum of 8,000 euros to a maximum of 12,000 euros, depending on the points obtained in the ranking, and cannot be combined with other public scholarships. The ranking is drawn up by a commission of eight members and calculated on the basis of the average grade obtained in the final evaluation of the second class, the grade obtained in English as a subject in the first part of the school year 2021/2022 and the ISEE value.

If a student receives a negative grade for the eighth grade or has a learning deficit, the scholarship awarded will be revoked and assigned to the underlying subject in order of precedence. The list of fellows will be published on the region’s website.

“Knowledge of foreign languages ​​is fundamental for the development of young people, but even more important is the opportunity to deal with a cultural and social environment different from one’s own”, concluded Leonardi. “A year abroad is the best way to broaden the horizons of our children and help them grow”.
