If you are enthusiastic, you can inspire others! The Mintoring Teacher Training Scholarship Program in Baden-Württemberg is looking for students who would like to pass on their enthusiasm for science and technical school subjects to the next generation as teachers. After all, there is an urgent need for teachers in the MINT subjects of mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology. In addition to workshops, coaching offerings, and digital learning formats, the scholarship also offers material support. Students can apply until July 15, 2022. Teaching Mintoring is offered by the Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft (sdw) in collaboration with the Dieter Schwarz Foundation and the Vector Foundation.

The scholarship program encourages Baden-Württemberg schoolchildren in their desire to become teachers. The funding period can be up to four years, starts in the last years of school and accompanies young people up to the first two semesters of the university. With workshops and digital offerings, young people are taught important skills and get a first glimpse of a teacher training course. In addition, fellows are supported in their study orientation by volunteer student lecturers as tutors.

“Teachers are essential for the further education of young people. If MINT content is taught with enthusiasm, this is a decisive contribution to arousing enthusiasm in young people for professions in these areas, areas where specialists are urgently needed. With teaching qualification We would like to promote mentoring to those who would later like to make this crucial contribution, ”says Edith Wolf, board member of the Vector Foundation.

“During the multi-year sponsorship, we not only support young people in their concrete planning for the future, but we also motivate them to become aware of their talents. They can use their personal skills to design attractive lessons for tomorrow. Lots of interesting practical insights, for example STEM labs provide new momentum and concrete ideas on how to deliver content in an engaging way, ”adds Silke Lohmiller, CEO of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation.

“Mintoring teaching is also characterized by its diversified support program in person and digitally, which we can also offer by supporting strong MINT networks. Volunteers also play an important role, not only passing on their experiences to young people. and a lot of specific advice on choosing the right subjects or place to study, but also encouraging them to follow their own path “, says Dr. Arndt Schnöring, general secretary of the German Business Foundation.
