Young talents need support, even and especially in the days of the Crown. Daily life at STUDIO 47 also shows how important it is to support high-performing junior staff to remain innovative and future-ready.The Duisburg regional broadcaster has therefore committed itself to the training and qualification of young media professionals in the region for many years.

Another commitment has now been added at the beginning of the winter semester: STUDIO 47 awards a “Scholarship in Germany” at the IST University of Management. This national program supports students who have excelled in outstanding achievement and social commitment or who have overcome biographical hurdles.

Each year the fellows receive a scholarship of 3,600 euros, half of which is provided by companies or foundations and by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In the current semester, a total of six of these scholarships will be awarded at the IST University. Among the sponsors, in addition to STUDIO 47, also the law firm Krieger Mes & Graf v. der Groeben and the NRW Sports Foundation.

“The alliance between this civil society commitment and state funding makes the Deutschlandstipendium something special,” says Prof. Dr. Matthias Johannes Bauer, Deputy Dean at IST University’s Department of Communication and Economics. “Without partners like this, it wouldn’t be possible.” Last week he delivered the grant certificate to Sascha Devigne, editor-in-chief of STUDIO 47, who has been a member of the Advisory Board for two years.

“For us as a media company, it is a great opportunity to get involved here,” says Devigne. “Promoting talent and young people is one of the main concerns of our station, which we have been pursuing intensively for a long time.” STUDIO 47 offers editorial internships and training as a media designer for images and sounds, and the station also organizes and curates the cross-media qualification project “RuhrReporter”, the “Online Academy for Local Television Journalism”.

STUDIO 47 is the regional television station of the western Ruhr and the Lower Rhine. The program is received by around 620,000 viewers in Duisburg, Oberhausen, Mülheim an der Ruhr and in the district of Wesel. The program has received the German Regional Television Award several times and, with a reach of 620,000 viewers, is one of the strongest media in the region.
