Fimer inverter for five photovoltaic plants in South Australia

Global renewable energy equipment manufacturer Fimer has been selected by Yates Electrical Services Group (Yes Group) and Sustainable Energy Infrastructure (SEI) to supply its market-leading inverter technologies to five solar park projects in South Australia . Once completed, the mid-scale plants will add 20 MW of electricity to the South Australian grid, powering approximately 5,000 homes and supporting the transition to more renewables.
Construction of the first two projects began in early 2021, with final commissioning taking place in September 2021. The Yes group planned, installed and commissioned both solar parks with Fimer PVS-175 and inverter solutions. Compact Skid medium voltage inverter. The 1.9 MW Bowmans Solar Farm project is located 100km north of Adelaide and includes 4,400 solar panels, a single axis tracker and eleven Fimer PVS-175 string inverters combined with Fimer’s PVS-175 MVCS solution. The plant will produce over 4,850 MWh per year or power over 750 homes.
The 4 MW Renmark Solar Farm project was the second project to be completed and is located 250 km northeast of Adelaide. The facility includes over 9,790 solar panels, single-axis tracking and twenty-four Fimer PVS-175 string inverters combined with Fimer’s PVS-175 MVCS solution and will produce over 10,000 MWh annually or power over 1300 homes.

“Fimer has been an important part of our projects since the Yes Group launched the Redmud Green Energy project in South Australia five years ago,” says Mark Yates, Director of the Yes Group. “Its products are modular, flexible and scalable. and its solutions offer a simple and effective solution for the installation, implementation and continuous operation and maintenance of medium and large projects. ” This has allowed the Yes Group, whose distributed network of solar farms – consisting of over one hundred projects ranging from 200 kW to 5 MW – to be erected throughout South Australia in a relatively short time and with a very high quality standard.

Fimer’s PVS-175 is a three-phase string inverter equipped with 12 independent MPPTs to increase programming flexibility and increase yields. The fuse-free design can supply up to 185kVA at 800Vac. This not only maximizes ROI for ground-mounted applications, but also reduces the cost of system footprint for small and large ground-mounted PV systems. Jason Venning, Fimer Country Manager – Australia and New Zealand, said of the Fimer solution for these projects: “It was fantastic to work with Mark and the Yes Group team again on such high quality solar park projects. Fimer is proud to both locations have supplied our high quality made in Italy PVS-175 string inverters and MV Compact Skid technology. “
The PVS-175 inverters installed at both sites are connected to Fimer’s compact medium voltage skid (MVCS) which includes LV and MV switchboards, transformers and protection devices in a pre-engineered skid that allows easy and economical connection of each solar park in the South Australian grid. Mark Yates concluded: “Our relationship with Fimer has always been based on mutual understanding of delivering high quality projects on time and on budget. Our relationships with Fimer have always been professional, with a high level of communication and lead times. excellent delivery “.

The Yes group has long been at the forefront of providing renewable energy solutions in South Australia, from installing solutions for residential and commercial use, to partnering with farmers to develop small solar farms that generate new income streams. , to the development of large-scale solar projects for public services.
