BAD BEVENSEN. New signage systems, seating, playground equipment, flower pots and bicycle parking spaces – all feel-good factors that make your stay in the city of Bad Bevensen easier and make the place a little more relaxing. Therefore, the management committee has decided to allocate 50,000 euros from the emergency program “Perspective in the center”. During the last meeting of the management committee, the feasibility of the individual proposals was assessed and a ranking of priorities was drawn up. Primarily this “downtown furniture”. Appropriately, the second priority is the development of a concept for modern information and signage systems. This should also include private facilities and attractions. The Deputy Director of Construction Administration, Oliver Willing, estimates the minimum outlay at around € 30,000.
Two political candidates from the CDU and the BfB are placed in third place in the ranking. The design of a promenade between the city center and the Kurhaus and a house with a fountain are combined in a common project. Visitors to the spa and Kurhaus should be guided into the city center through an attractive route to stimulate trade and gastronomy here. In the course of this, the construction of a walk-in “fountain house” will be carried out to the north-west of the Neptune fountain. The measure serves to make the thermal springs visible and to create an additional attraction near the city center. The financial framework is estimated at around € 2 million. Planning costs are financed through the immediate program. The multipurpose sports facility has already been requested. Of the total costs of 168,000 euros, 151,000 euros are subsidized.
The immediate program “Perspective city center” is a funding program of the state of Lower Saxony. It supports cities and municipalities in addressing the consequences of the pandemic in urban centers and includes € 117 million in EU development aid. The program aims to support municipalities in building future-proof urban centers with concepts adapted to the local situation. It is also about retail, but much more: for example, new uses and quality of living must be made possible and digitalisation and climate protection must be promoted. In short: the goal is that people can rediscover the city as a living space.
The joint municipality of Bevensen-Ebstorf generally applies for funding. The financing volume amounts to 800,000 euros. The sum is divided into equal thirds between the municipality municipality, the town of Bad Bevensen and Klosterflecken Ebstorf. The joint municipality will use the conversion of the Kort property for the planned school canteen open all day in Ebstorf. The Klosterflecken is planning an inclusive playground on Winkelplatz and the emptying of the mill pond.
The joint community and monastery patch applications are still in preparation. But time is of the essence: “Applications must be submitted by June 30, implemented by March 31, 2023 and finally resolved by June 30, 2023 at the latest,” says Martin Feller, mayor of the joint municipality. Therefore, interesting measures for the municipalities, which cannot be completed in this short period of time, unfortunately have no escape.
