The mask requirement also ends in Hamburg schools – testing continues
After most of the Crown rules in Hamburg have expired, schoolchildren no longer have to wear masks in schools. The school authorities had already announced on Friday in a letter to the school management: “Wearing a mask at school is an individual decision of each individual since May 1st, which we treat with respect and which cannot be prevented or forced by anyone”. This applies not only to students and school staff, but also to all other people entering the school. However, schoolchildren should continue to be tested for Corona twice a week. And according to the school authorities, the rules for the regular ventilation of classrooms continue to apply.

No deaths per crown reported for the first time since September: nationwide incidence at 639.5
For the first time since September, German health authorities have not reported a single new crown death to the Robert Koch Institute within 24 hours. This emerges from the RKI data this morning. Subsequent modifications or additions are possible. According to current data, the seven-day incidence is 639.5 (previous day 666.4; previous week: 790.8; previous month: 1,531.5) 4,032 new corona infections were recorded in one day. Lower Saxony: first day of school without compulsory exam after a long time
As of today, the mandatory crown test in nurseries and schools in Lower Saxony will no longer apply. Those who want to challenge themselves will receive three test kits per week in May. This applies to all schoolchildren and kindergarten children from the age of three. Education Minister Grant Hendrik Tonne (SPD) stressed that with the withdrawal of most of the Corona requirements, a feeling of normalcy will return. Children and young people, in particular, “with significant restrictions such as closing schools, alternating classes, wearing masks and mandatory tests, have done more than others to slow the pandemic and protect others.” However, the current data on the infection also show all too clearly that the pandemic has not yet been overcome. If you voluntarily wear a mask to school or want to test yourself regularly before going to school or daycare, you can of course do it.
