“My NFT collection will arrive on November 18, exclusively on Binance”Ronaldo said in a tweet. He added that fans can redeem a referral code to receive “a surprise when the collection launches.”

There will be a Cristiano Ronaldo “mystery box” for the 1.5 million new Binance users who redeem the code which may include a limited edition Ronaldo NFT, the statement said.

According to an announcement from Binance,

“The CR7 NFT collection […] it will be the first in a series of drops starring football icon Cristiano Ronaldo.”

The statement adds it future NFTs from Cristiano Ronaldo’s NFT collection will be available in early 2023.

Meanwhile, the inaugural collection will include seven animated statues with four levels of rarity:

  • Super Super Rare (SSR);
  • Super rare (SR);
  • Uncommon (R);
  • Regular (N).

Each level of rarity offers certain benefitsincluding a personal message from Ronaldo and autographed items.

The 45 NFTs with the highest value 5 SSR and 40 SR will be auctioned for 24 hours on the Binance NFT Market. Auction prices will start at BUSD 10,000 for SSRs and BUSD 1,700 for SRs.

The remaining 6,600 NFTs – 600 R and 6,000 N – will be available on Binance starting at 77 BUSD.

The press release further states that,

Each NFT statue depicts Ronaldo at an iconic moment in his lifeit can be giving him a “bicycle” or moments related to his childhood in Portugal.”

Binance has the former announcement a multi-year partnership with the player in late June 2022. The latest announcement said the product of this collaboration is “a one-of-a-kind experience that will change the world of NFTs forever,” adding:

“Starting this week, you’ll get a preview of what we’ve been working on and more surprises about what’s to come.”

The initial announcement in June hinted that the initiative would help strengthen existing partnerships with the Argentine Football Federation, the Brazilian Football Confederation and professional sports clubs SS Lazio (IT) and FC Porto (PT).

At the time, it was clarified that registered users of Binance in some countries would be able to purchase collections using Binance Pay.

Partnerships between major sports players and cryptocurrency companies are becoming more common. As for football specifically, the Argentine professional footballer earlier this year Lionel Messi signed a deal worth over $20 million to promote digital fan token company Socios.com. As part of the deal, Messi would take part in a promotion campaign for Socios during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

According to the Daily Mail, Ronaldo has been “ridiculed” by his fans for promoting this roundup of NFTs, hours after accusing Manchester United of being a “marketing club”.
