The CES in Las Vegas was held from 5 to 8 January: this exhibition, initially for consumer electronics, has become in recent years the measure of the success of new technologies, as well as hardware. In this regard, the 2023 version of the show gave pride of place to Web 3, with (also in the French delegation) many to boot Metavers e blockchain. While for the first time a section of the Central Hall was dedicated to the Metavers, a dedicated venue was dedicated throughout the duration of the show to a theme called Digital Hollywood : there were presentations related to metaverses, virtual universes, special effects, augmented reality, stream, all related to the world of cinema and entertainment. The media industry in the United States in particular, after three years of war stream and the disruption of online video, is now grappling with intense reflection on its future reinvention through virtual universes and video games, with the lines between the three areas becoming increasingly blurred.
“Strikes endanger a battered economy, which risks plunging into social chaos”
Flat TV companies have revealed many products targeting the Web 3. TV maker LG, for example, has highlighted Blade Wallet, a product for buying and selling NFTs directly from LG Smart TVs, Sansar, a social metaverse for concerts and events inhabit with some of the user-generated content, and a partnership with Oorbit, a metaverse platform for accessing virtual worlds and AI-powered games. LG sees a future where launching a metaverse and its NFTs from its television will be as much of a reflex as turning on Netflix.
On token and other cryptocurrencies, the surprise came from Mastercard, which presented 2023 as the year of its first products in this area, with a first collaboration at CES with the blockchain Polygon to launch a Web 3 accelerator for musicians: NFT, metaverse training, etc.
Will inflation strengthen the desire of the French elsewhere?
Of the fifty to boot of Web 3, we will note Owo, specializing in sensory sensations in the metaverses: the to boot develops about thirty sensations, such as free fall, the wind, pushing an object or feeling carried away… Almost everything except smell, the specialty of OVR Technology which, thanks to its product of digital perfumeallows you to smell odors from the metaverse.
All of these to boot make extensive use of blockchainbut the most noticed application was Climate Trade, which finally seems to have found a solution blockchain for offsetting carbon credits and tracking emissions.
This trend will be confirmed at CES 2024, but the metaverse seems to be establishing itself as a cross-cutting topic software hardwarebut also large groups-to boot. Also, despite the scandals and bear market in this industry, the use cases of cryptocurrencies and blockchain they were still as numerous as last year, as if economic considerations hadn’t really impacted innovation in the industry.
